Feathering The Nest

Watching the development (and degeneration) of discussions on here over the last couple of months from my elevated perch, it has become clear that there is an appetite for a proper discussion forum dedicated to Falklands issues. Blogs are not a good place to have a two way discussion: it is difficult to follow conversations and impossible to see if there have been any new comments unless you have a magical head for numbers or, of course, you subscribe.

So, as FIG cannot seem to get organised enough to do it - and really, why should they? - The Beak in its magnanimous role has decided to open and run a discussion forum.  The link is at the bottom of this post - we shall call it The Nest.
This forum will allow anonymous posting, but you should register if you wish to contribute meaningfully; you will be asked for an email address when you register but you do not have to use your real one, or alternatively you could make one up on gmail/yahoo/msn etc for your online presence.

There is the potential for this forum to expand: new categories can easily be created and if people join properly then they can create new topics and start off their own discussions without waiting for The Beak to throw an intellectual bone.

It would be nice if people would try and keep things civil and sensible (you do not have to be constructive!) but knowing the way these things tend to go I am sure some conversations will degenerate into bitchy little arguments and someone will inevitably shit in The Nest, as it were. The Beak will be watching and if a conversation shows signs of becoming too nasty (or just plain boring) then it will be closed.

You will also notice that there has been a category specifically dedicated to discussing posts from The Beak, this has all the current comments added and comments will no longer be accepted on The Beak.
