To moderate or not to moderate

It has been gratifying to see the number of comments on the posts so far: some witty, some insightful, some not.  Unfortunately there will always be comments which take it a touch too far (just ask Rosemary Minto) which is why they are moderated on this blog.

There have been a couple of comments on the Severely bogged television thread which The Beak has declined to post, the main reason being that they are accusing a company in the Falklands of illegal activity for which they offer no real evidence.  Negative comment is fine and opinions are free for everyone to hold, but accusations of illegal activity against a company while offering no evidence is not something the Beak is willing to publish (unless of course we are talking about the Government in which case, fair game).

Yesterday The Beak received the following comment on the above post: "I keep trying to inform people (via this blog) about [the company], but whoever is moderating this blog is refusing to publish them.  I have a really good idea who is writing this blog and maybe I will use something that he can't moderate, like facebook, and I'll let the Falklands and it's [sic] government know who it is!"

Go for it, the internet is a wonderful place for freedom of speech and if you have something to say then crack on; blogs are very easy to set up and it might just give The Beak something else to write about.  Although if, as the poster alleges, illegal activity is being carried out then perhaps going to the Police or AG's Chambers would be more appropriate than posting comments on The humble Beak
